Take me to a party,

I want to get drunk with strangers.

Play pretend and put on a show

where only you and I know the cast list.

I’ll let you walk me home

and tell you I never do this,

opening my front door and letting you in

with a laugh and the key on your keychain.

I’ll wake up before you

and bring out your toothbrush from under my sink.

I’ll turn on the kettle and set out our mugs.

I’ll make you eggs just the way you like

and be so glad that we’re not strangers anymore.

I hope he remembers me as yellow

when the answer to our end is revealed.

Yellow.

Either in the ground or exiled from his life.

Yellow.

Either forever or forgotten.

Yellow.

All of me,

all of him,

all of everything that we could be.

Yellow.

She painted the mountain tops golden

just for me

and let me breath in her healing,

exhaling my worries

and engulfing me in her tangled

and forever winding vines

of hope.
