Missed Connection.
A few months ago.
August,
maybe September.
Driving on I-30
F
I saw your headlights
with your shirt pulled down.
I can’t stop thinking about
your headlights.
I was in a big red tanker.

Missed Connection.
Where is Preston?
We met at a haunted house,
went through it together.
I turned around
and all I found were ghosts.
I’m trying to find you.
Looking for Preston from Fort Worth.

Lost Connection.
We drank coffee together,
younger back then.
I miss you,
I sure do.
I lost my old phone
and my contacts
and you.
Can we start again?
I miss you,
you were the only girl for me
and still are.
You drank Frappuccino's
and pumpkin-spiced things.
I miss you,
I really do.
Read between the lines
and you’ll know it’s me.

Missed Connection.
I was entering as you were leaving.
I almost hit you with the door.
I apologized
and we smiled at each other
and we stared at each other as the door closed.
You
F, short brunette.
Me,
M, red baseball cap.
I would love to see your smile again.

Missed Connection.
You did a scan of my stomach two months ago.
You were very beautiful.
Blonde and fit.
We had a nice talk.
We talked about running.
“I’m a runner, too,”
you said when you noticed my shirt hanging on the chair.
You said you were going to run a 5K next week.
What was your time?
How did you do?
It is cancer, by the way.

Lost Connection.
Denton was a lot smaller back then.
I wrestled and you cheered.
Are you old school, like me?
Do you remember the good old days?
Maybe we can find each other again.
And talk about the good old days
before the city got big.
