Looking At My Back

It’s pretty hard to get there,

to the time we have left.

I held your hand as it took us

further from the past.

But your grip started to slip

and now you’re looking at my back.

You’re looking at my back.

You’re looking at my back.

Give me your hand,

you’re looking at my back.

My hair has grown longer,

the scars healed paler,

and you’re looking at my back.

I shed the dress and wear another

with you looking at my back.

Dawn breaks anew,

a halo around my head,

while you look at my back.

You’re looking at my back.

You’re looking at my back.

I only remember what you look like

in memories, not glass.

You’re looking at my back.

You’re looking at my back.
